Notwithstanding its semi-rural setting in Ungasan on the Bukit peninsular, Villa Champa is centrally and conveniently located within close walking distance to a supermarket, various mini-marts, money changer, 24/7 fitness centre and numerous restaurants and cafés. Also, all the attractions of the bukit area are only 5 to 40 minutes away by car, including Ngurah Rai International Airport, GWK Cultural Park, Jimbaran, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa and many of Bali’s most beautiful and spectacular beaches.
Villa Champa also has easy access to the main roads that lead to Bali’s other main tourist areas, including Sanur, Ubud, Kintamani, Bedugul, Candi Desa, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu and Tanah Lot.
There are numerous great beaches close to Villa Champa, each with their own character and charm. Balangan beach, only a short drive away, is a very laid-back local beach with cheap warungs and colorful sunsets. At low tide there are massive rock pools that are fantastic for children to explore.
For surfers, Balangan is one of the many spectacular surf beaches around Ungasan. Others include Dreamland, Bingin, Impossibles, Padang Padang (now famous as the beach location for the movie “Eat, Pray, Love”), Suluban, and Uluwatu.
In addition to the many surf beaches, Villa Champa is close to numerous other reef-sheltered and family friendly beaches that are perfect for children, including the beaches at Jimbaran, Melasti, Pandawa, Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa.
Jimbaran beach is a wide sweep of white sand near to the airport. When the sea is calm it is great for children, and in the evening it really comes alive with a multitude of seafood restaurants setting up right on the sand. Children can play on the beach and have freshly cooked corn from passing vendors as you relax and enjoy a great seafood BBQ and a beer or fresh coconut while chatting and watching the sunset. There are also wandering musical groups to entertain you. A visit to Jimbaran beach for the sunset and seafood BBQ is usually a Bali holiday highlight.
For those who prefer a more up-market beach experience there are also numerous amazing beach clubs only a short (15 to 20 minute) drive from Villa Champa. Some of the more notable beach clubs include Sundays, Karma and White Rock (all near Melasti); El Kabron (near Dreamland); Sundara and Locca (near Jimbaran); and Canna (near Nusa Dua). All of which provide very memorable and unique beach, dining and music experiences.
Villa Champa is located conveniently close to some of Bali’s iconic cultural attractions, including Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, Uluwatu temple and the cultural museum and live show at Nusa Dua.
Villa Champa is only 20 minutes away from the unmissable clifftop Kecak and fire dance at sunset at Uluwatu temple. Arrive early so you can enjoy a walk along the cliffs and see the temple and the monkeys before settling down to watch probably the largest and most famous traditional Kecak dance in Bali.
GWK, Bali’s cultural centre is just 5 minutes’ drive from the villa. Spend some time to wander around the park to see the impressive Garuda and Wisnu statues, plus the main showpiece, the more than 120 m tall statue depicting the benevolent Hindu god Wisnu riding on the back of the mythical garuda eagle and which is one of the tallest landmarks in Southeast Asia. Don’t miss the dance performance in the Amphitheatre – great for children, as several traditional Balinese dances are featured hourly.

Located at Nusa Dua, only 25 minutes from Villa Champa, you will find Museum Pasifika (displaying historical artifacts and artworks) and, at Bali Nusa Dua Theatre, the spectacular Devdan culture and dance and acrobatics extravaganza – with lakes, fire effects and much, much more.
For golf enthusiasts, there are three 18-hole golf courses located nearby to Villa Champa. New Kuta Golf Club (at Pecatu) and Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club (at Pandawa) are only 15 minutes’ drive away, and the Bali National Golf Club at Nusa Dua is only 25 minutes’ drive from the villa.
For the very adventurous the Bukit area is the place for one of the most fun things you can do in Bali. Tandem paragliding. Literally strap yourself to the instructor, run off the cliff and then spend the next hour gracefully floating up and down the shoreline staring down at the beaches. seaweed growers and other life far below.
If surfing or paragliding are not your thing, Tanjung Benoa, which is a short 35-minute drive away, offers lots of other beach and water sports adventure options, including: banana boats; jet skis; fly boarding; parasailing; sea walking; snorkeling; scuba diving; and glass-bottom boat tours to Turtle Island (a green turtle conservation and breeding area) that are great for families with young children
When you have your own in-house cook creating freshly prepared tailor-made meals at Villa Champa, it makes it hard to leave, especially when you taste the freshly baked brownies. However, if you do decide to head out, there are many great options to try nearby – some within easy walking distance and many others within 5 to 30 minutes’ drive.
Probably the most popular option is to head down to Jimbaran beach and enjoy a great seafood BBQ with freshly caught fish straight from the Jimbaran Fish Market (also worth a visit one morning).
There are numerous other restaurants, cafes and bars throughout the Ungasan, Jimbaran, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua area. Sometimes it seems that there is a new one opening every month, including some of smartest and best restaurants and bars that Bali has to offer; many perched in spectacular cliff-top locations or directly on the beach.
One of the most famous is the Rock Bar situated on large rocks below the Ayana Hotel and voted one of the top 10 bars in the world, and only a short drive away. Also popular for an afternoon drink and beyond is the very lively Single Fin bar perched on the clifftop overlooking the famous Uluwatu surf break. For those who feel they need to work off some of their Bali holiday food, beyond swimming laps in the 13 m villa pool and working out on the exercise bike, there is a “Fitness Plus” 24/7 fitness centre just 5 minutes’ walk from Villa Champa. Daily and weekly access can be purchased at the venue.
Directly adjacent to Villa Champa is a vast, vegetated area that is great for a very relaxing early morning or late afternoon nature walk. There are numerous walking trails, large open spaces, small shrines, temples, and stunning views to enjoy; all without any traffic and with very few other people. It is easy to spend more than an hour exploring the various trails that meander throughout the area.
Villa Champa is also great for in-villa activities, such as yoga and boxing lessons. We have already had guests who have availed themselves of these services.
